Strength and durability of roller compacted concrete with different types and addition rates of polypropylene fibers

Roller compacted concrete (RCC) is a relatively new alternative construction material that can be used in road and dam constructions by allowing rapid use after production the of conventional building materials production. RCC, which produced with low water/cement ratio, one rigid pavement types shows similarity to flexible pavements technique. Different fibers such as steel polypropylene (PP) are roads aim preventing cracks, reducing thickness increasing permissible joint gap. In this study, flexural strength, compressive unit weight, water absorption, ultrasonic pulse velocity, modulus elasticity freeze-thaw resistance were determined roller concretes using two different polypropylene-based fibers. RCC design, fiber addition was insufficient improve properties terms strength durability. It has been observed there 14.4% reduction 0.20% inclusion, 46.8% 0.50% inclusion. Polypropylene inclusion increased absorption percentages decreased specific weights reinforced concretes. However, PP-fiber exhibited good performance under attack.
